Which currency should you invoice in?
Bill in the currency your contract names. If the contract is silent, invoicing in your own currency moves the exchange-rate risk to the customer, and invoicing in theirs moves it to you — for long engagements that difference is worth settling in writing rather than discovering at the end. Where you and your customer are in different countries, the tax treatment can also change: cross-border business services in particular often shift the tax obligation to the buyer. Confirm your position with a local accountant before the first invoice rather than correcting it with credit notes afterwards.
